The content chosen for the kit is based on VIKING’s participation in the SARex expeditions, VIKING’s involvement in a large range of Polar Code cases, we well as several internal tests.
Especially the materials being most essential for survival in polar environments have been developed and/or selected for VIKING’s polar survival kits:
Outer layer: custom-made high visible orange coverall for PSK use. With 160g/m2 insulation, fully-padded hood and elasticated cuffs. One size with size-adjustable features.
Tested in accordance with EN342: 2017
Glove system: Merino wool inner glove combined with fully lined durable mittensContainer: Heavy-duty, high visible orange PVC waterproof rucksack with comfortable shoulder straps.
Vacuum packing: All clothes are delivered in vacuum packing to minimize volume.
A documentation package with the individual datasheet for each item is available upon request.
Custom-made kits with content according to special requirements can be offered upon request.
In order to comply with dangerous goods regulation during transport, fuel and matches are delivered separately.
The end-user should distribute the fuel and matches into the kits upon receipt.
