VIKING Life-Saving Equipment sets sail as the main sponsor of The Tall Ships Races 2025 in Esbjerg
The countdown to The Tall Ships Races 2025 has officially begun. On 6 August, the impressive fleet of traditional sailing ships will visit Esbjerg for the sixth time, and this year sees a new main sponsor come on board.
Esbjerg’s mayor, Jesper Frost Rasmussen, and VIKING Life-Saving Equipment’s CEO, Henrik Helsinghof, met today to sign the agreement that cements the company’s role as the main sponsor of The Tall Ships Races 2025. The agreement ensures that Esbjerg can once again experience one of Europe’s largest maritime festivals, which has previously attracted over half a million visitors to the city’s harbour.
“The Tall Ships Races event means something very special to Esbjerg. It is a tribute to the city’s maritime heritage, while also inspiring 150 young trainees to sail along and get a taste of life at sea. This experience may later play a crucial role in encouraging them to pursue a maritime education. In this context, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment fits in perfectly, and we are very pleased to have the company on board for next year’s event,” says Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen.
VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has previously been involved in The Tall Ships Races. Among other things, the company has been an active part of the Maritime Fair on the harbour quay, and when the ships’ crews are honoured at the awards ceremony in the City Square, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has helped present a special award that focuses on safety at sea. In 2022, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment and Esbjerg Municipality used the event to mark a groundbreaking climate partnership to reduce CO2 emissions.
“VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has deep roots in Esbjerg and more than 60 years of experience in safeguarding lives at sea. Both aspects are reflected in what The Tall Ships Races event has evolved into here in Esbjerg. The event receives fantastic local support while being very international due to the crews from many different nations. Our involvement in The Tall Ships Races is based on shared values of safety, but also on sustainability at sea and on the harbour quay during The Tall Ships Races,” says CEO Henrik Helsinghof.
As the main sponsor, VIKING will be a visible part of The Tall Ships Races, and visitors can once again look forward to experiencing the company’s innovative solutions in maritime safety in a demonstration and information area. VIKING will showcase their latest life-saving equipment and technology that set the standard for safety at sea.
The Tall Ships Races event is organised by Sail Training International, while the partnership between Port Esbjerg and Esbjerg Municipality brings the event to Esbjerg.
About The Tall Ships Races 2025
Esbjerg is the final port of call for The Tall Ships Races in 2025. After visiting France, Scotland and Norway, the participating sailing ships will arrive in Esbjerg on 6 August. Until 9 August, Europe’s largest free family event will really make its mark on the harbour and the city. The impressive ships, the festive activities along the quayside and the maritime atmosphere will fill Esbjerg with vibrant life and energy.
The Tall Ships Races has visited Esbjerg in 2022, 2018, 2014, 2001 and 1993.
