Liferaft features explained
Rescue quoit
The rescue quoit equipped with 30 m (100 ft) of floating line is reinforced with steel preventing breakage when retrieving survivors to the liferaft.
Pressure relief valves
Pressure relief valves allow excess CO2 to be emitted upon inflation maintaining proper chamber pressure. These valves should remain open, caps to be used only in the event of valve failure.
Boarding ramp
Innovative boarding ramp provides quick and easy evacuation from the water. The yellow fabric makes high visibility.
Canopy
The fluorescent yellow canopy offers enhanced visibility. This material is certified according to the High Visibility norm EN471 for traffic visibility. The waterproof canopy protects from rain, wind, sun and sea.
Lifelines
Internal and external lifelines securely attached to the buoyancy tubes. Interior lifelines assist occupants in stabilizing themselves in heavy seas.
Reflective tape
SOLAS approved high-visibility retro-reflective tape on canopy, buoyancy chambers and bottom of liferaft.
Rain Water Collector
The rain water collector on the RESCYOUTM Ocean and RESCYOUTM Pro enables collection of additional drinking water.
Liferaft lights
SOLAS/USCG interior and exterior strobe lights automatically activated upon liferaft inflation. Both lights have the ability to be turned off during daylight conserving use of the long-life lithium battery.
Fabric
There are two layers of natural rubber and a layer of nylon core vulcanized together to create strength and durability. All seams are double-taped and hand-glued inside and out.
Liferaft floors
The RescYou liferafts are equipped with either an insulated floor, an integral insulated inflatable double floor or a double fabric floor. Offshore liferafts have additional flooring to protect from hypothermia.
Air chambers
VIKING liferafts have 3-5 separate air chambers with one-way valves in the canopy. If one chamber is punctured it will not affect any other chambers.
Buoyancy tubes
VIKING liferafts have two independent buoyancy tubes each capable of supporting the maximum amount of passengers. A puncture in one chamber will not affect the whole liferaft’s buoyancy.
Four large ballast bags
Each of the four large ballast bags has a 55 litre capacity, which makes the liferaft very stable, even in very heavy seas.
Inflation
The steel cylinder contains sufficient CO2 and nitrogen to provide rapid inflation even at temperatures as low as -15C (5F).
Topping up valves
Should the need arise the easily accessible topping up valves located inside the liferaft allow for additional manual inflation by use of bellows provided in equipment pack.
Canopy openings
The liferafts have openings on both sides to improve visibility and offer cross-ventilation. The oversized canopy entrance provides quick easy access and allows for helicopter evacuation from within.
Easy slide zippers
Easy slide zippers zip from the bottom up allowing you to increase freeboard while still maintaining ventilation and visibility.
Sea anchor
The extra large sea anchor slows the liferaft when surfing down a wave preventing capsizing and minimizing drift. It is manually deployed allowing survivors to quickly paddle to safety.

Frequently asked questions about the liferaft features
The liferaft has four 55 l quick filling, weighted ballast bags attached beneath, providing maximum stability and preventing capsizing in heavy seas. The oversized openings around the top and the sewn-in weights allow the bags to fill quickly creating immediate stability.
The inflatable double floors must be manually inflated with bellows provided in the equipment bag. Inflatable floors do not automatically inflate because they do not have pressure relief valves installed as the release of CO2 adversely affects some people and the floors are under a different working pressure than the buoyancy tubes.
All VIKING liferaft canopies automatically inflate upon deployment.
SOLAS requirement is 4 sq ft/0.372 m2 per person in order to share body warmth for protection from hypothermia and to protect you from injury during heavy seas.
The extra-large sea anchor slows the liferaft when surfing down a wave preventing capsizing and minimizing drift.
The sea anchor is manually deployed allowing survivors to quickly paddle to safety should the vessel be on fire or to clear debris.
The interior light and exterior strobe light will automatically activate upon deployment. To turn the lights off during the day insert the pin into the slot in the battery pack on the arch tube.
